Highlights

  • Shader-based HDR pipeline

Four HDR modes (HDR10 PQ, HLG, BT.2020 gamut mapping, Linear HDR) powered by 77 bundled GLSL shaders from hdr-toys.

  • Anime4K upscaling

Seven preset quality tiers with a 4K/8K safety guard and automatic downgrading under thermal pressure.

  • Gesture system

Configurable double-tap seek zones, swipe-to-seek, long-press speed boost and pinch-to-zoom with pan.

  • Subtitle controls

Drag subtitles into place, pinch to resize them, and swipe across a line to seek between dialogue.

  • Thermal-aware playback

Samples thermal headroom during playback and caps shader work before frames start to drop.

  • Themes & ambient mode

25+ colour themes with AMOLED black variants, and GLOW / FRAME_EXTEND ambient effects rendered in GLSL.

About the project

QuantumMPV is an Android video player built on libmpv, the playback library behind mpv. It pairs mpv’s power — scripting, configuration and high-quality rendering — with a calmer, easier interface.

Beyond the essentials (hardware and software decoding, network streams, PiP, frame-by-frame navigation, a sleep timer and speed presets), it adds a shader-based HDR pipeline, Anime4K upscaling, an extensive gesture and subtitle system, and thermal-aware performance tuning.

The repository also documents Google Cast support, a Jellyfin client, Navidrome/Subsonic music streaming and a local music library. See the README for the complete, current feature list.
